Rafael Pou

University Francisco de Vitoria

He is a Catholic priest, Philosophy doctoral student, professor of anthropological philosophy, and chaplain at Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid).

Fascinated by human beings and philosophy of mind in particular, as the most relevant anthropological frontier of our time and the philosophical crossroad of many vital issues, including consciousness, free will, AI, etc. This is why he is currently studying for a Ph.D. in Philosophy of mind, trying to find answers to the mysteries of mental causation according to the Aristotelian tradition and concretely, according to contemporary neo-Aristotelian philosophers.

After having finished a Masters in Philosophy with honors in Rome (Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum), winning the “medal for academic excellence,” and writing a dissertation about the eliminative materialism of Paul Churchland, he started my Ph.D. at the University Navarra, where he is currently studying the problem of mental causation from the Aristotelian point of view.

He is also very interested in making Philosophy accessible to the general public. He has written a popular level philosophy book for young people and college students, “Filosofía de bar para un mundo posmoderno,” and several popular articles for the blog “Democresia.” He has been working for two years on a YouTube channel, “Hablando en Cristiano.” He has also given several lectures on different philosophical topics.

His studies include a degree in Theology in Rome (APRA) and a two-year private program for Classical Humanities (Centro de Humanidades Clásicas de los Legionarios de Cristo, Salamanca).
